Hi, I'm Vicki
Counselling changed my life. It taught me kindness towards myself, how to see things from a fresh perspective and rebuild confidence I thought I'd lost. That experience is at the heart of why I now support others, because I know how powerful it can be to have someone support you.
Before becoming a counsellor, I worked in demanding management roles where I supported others to grow but gradually lost sight of myself. That experience deepened my understanding of how easy it is to see burnout as normal, become disconnected, or feel unsure of your own worth. It also shaped my commitment to creating a space where you don’t have to hold it all together and be 'the strong one'.
My approach is pluralistic, which simply means we shape sessions around you. There is no one-size-fits-all. I draw on different approaches depending on what you feel you need in the moment, so your therapy is unique to you.
Living with endometriosis and fibroids, I struggled to find the kind of understanding and support I needed. That experience is what shaped Empowered Growth Counselling. It’s a space where no-one has to explain away their emotional or physical pain, or feel invisible. I've created a place where what you’re living with is recognised, and where you can gently find a way forward.
A little about me beyond the therapy room. I live in Bristol, where you’ll often find me with a book in hand, planning a road trip, or laughing over too many cuppas with friends. For me, joy is in the simple things - a trashy novel, reality TV, listening to techno on a long drive, or just remembering to pause and breathe.
How I can help
I support women living with period health challenges. I know from my own journey with endometriosis and fibroids just how exhausting and isolating it can be. The long wait for a diagnosis, the frustration of being dismissed, and the search for a doctor who listens with empathy and compassion can feel overwhelming. When pain, heavy bleeding, unpredictable cycles and ongoing symptoms spill into your work, relationships, confidence and mental health, the weight can feel almost too much to carry.
Counselling offers a place where you don’t have to explain or justify your experience. You are believed, listened to and supported. We can explore the emotional toll you're experiencing and begin to find ways so you feel more grounded and connected to yourself again.
I also have a special interest in relationships and attachment styles, how early bonds and previous dating experiences shape us, and how patterns shift through adolescence and adulthood. This includes working with those caught in anxious-avoidant dynamics, as well as those seeking healthier, fulfilling and more balanced connections.
Before setting up my private practice, I worked in a specialist agency supporting people affected by drug and alcohol addiction, both those in active recovery and their loved ones. That experience continues to inform my practice, reminding me of the courage it takes to seek change and the importance of being met with compassion.
Alongside these areas, I also work with other issues such as stress, anxiety, depression and self-esteem, helping clients find calmer ground and a clearer sense of themselves.
